Math-
Just to let remind you, each
month of our new curriculum in math focuses on different concepts during our
"Calendar Math Time". During October, the students are learning
about liquid measurement, fractions, different quadrilaterals, and
are continuing to work on counting money and telling time correctly.
Many of our vocabulary words come from our calendar math program. Study
guides were sent home in Friday folders today. Please take time to review
the words. Since our month is shorter due to Fall Break, there are not as
many words to review. :)
Science Fair
Most
students have picked what science fair project they want to do for the science
fair this year. The science fair is going to be December 13th. If you want your child to do something
other than what they picked, please let me know. The science fair is mandatory
in the 4th grade. Thanks

We have just completed Chapter 2 on Estimation and Number
Theory. We realize that finding factors and multiples are not the
easiest activities, but the students have been working hard. We are
learning lots of new information and concepts daily! Please continue
to work on multiplication facts. We will be ready to practice the 6's the
week after Fall Break, and then we will continue to review the next set of
facts each week after that. Students should be able to recall facts
quickly...almost automatically. Feel free to use those websites like www.multiplication.com , make flash cards, practice orally,
etc. Any extra practice that you do should be documented. If your
child does any extra math practice for 20 minutes, write down the name of
the website or description of what you did, and we will give some
extra credit/bonus points. :)
Congratulations to the following students for making
their AR goal Eli, Erika C., Chloe H, Stella,
Kobe, Caleb, Alex, Abby, Carrigan, Jackson, Jesse, Simon, Jayden, Taylor,

Science: Science Mobile will be here on Monday and Wednesday. This is a fun day filled with hands on experiments.
Math: Students are working hard on answering multiple choice questions in a timely fashion. Many students are making progress and using time wisely while others are still not finishing within the time limit. Blank answers are scored as incorrect answers. Our math vocabulary test will be next Thursday, March 29th. Students should be studying those words and definitions. Math homework looked much better this week. Many students showed improvement. Thank you for working with your child!
